We are all busy making plans to gather with family, and prepare special recipes they all enjoy, but here is a quick reminder about a spiritual preparation. In the past, Governor Brownback has issued a statement encouraging all of us to spend some time reconciling relationships before gathering on Thanksgiving Day.  I mention this now so that we can actually spend some time in prayer seeking the Lord about our friends and family.  Careless words often cause strife and hurt feelings.  How we can become an encourager to those we love the most? We need to be intentional as we seek His wisdom.  What about that son or daughter who’s looking for a job…. how about affectionately boasting about their gifts and what blessings they have to offer. Taking time to look into the eyes of that 3 year old grandson and sitting on the floor to play with them when they get frustrated and cry.Are there people who need a phone call to clear the air over careless words? Thanksgiving….mostly we’re thankful for people…right???

Let’s tell them.

Thanksgiving Unity

I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” John 17:23
This is a time to be thankful, a time to focus on all the Lord has done for us. It’s also a time to take inventory of our relationships and mend as many as possible.  The Lord’s last prayer was that we would be ONE. Unity in our families is close to the HEART of GOD. Are there relationships that need to be mended?…forgiveness extended?, clearing the air for careless words, or just saying, “I was wrong, I’m sorry, please forgive me.” It’s truly amazing how admission of guilt melts the heart of those we love. During this season Governor Brownback has asked Kansans to look at reconciliation, in our families and our world. In all the busyness of cleaning, cooking, decorating, are we taking time to be truly thankful for those around us? Take some time…sit down, ask God to reveal to you what He wants you to do.
“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness (right standing with Him and our fellow man) and all these things will be added unto you.” Matt. 6:33

“Restoring America, As The Land of Liberty”

We’re coming to the season when you will be able to spend some quality time with extended family.  It would be productive if we prepared in advance some “intentional” teaching moments, for our children and grandchildren.

I knew the pilgrims went from England to Holland to escape the tyranny of the state church, but I wasn’t aware of the TRUTH of what happened to them between the time they left England, went to Holland, and finally got on the small boat to come to America.
