Pastor & Patriot Alert!
What Role should religion play in Government?
Americans are searching for meaning and they want churches to FIGHT BACK!
The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayo said those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.
“The city’s subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented,”
Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Christina Holcomb said in a statement.
“The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions.”The Houston Chronicle reported opponents of the ordinance launched a petition drive that generated more than 50,000 signatures – far more than the 17,269 needed to put a referendum on the ballot. However, the city threw out the petition in August over alleged irregularities. Two cities in Kansas now have a gender identity law on the books.
KANSANS Awaken to what is happening. Believers: It’s time for your voice to be heard.
This week I had a friend share with me that their preacher delivered a fantastic sermon on reaching the lost. Then at the end, as if to add a exclamation point he said, “And for those of you who are always asking me to address our governmental issues, this is why I will not.”
Wow…I was surprised as was my friend. The gospel weaves it’s golden thread throughout every fabric of our lives. However, I believe Jesus was definitely involved in politics. Not only did he constantly rebuke the Pharisees and the Sanhedrin, the local politicians of that day, but he gave a mandate for us to be the light of the world in all areas. Is abortion political? Was slavery political? While Americans preached the gospel for 400 years, it wasn’t until we got involved in politics that helped slavery come to an end.
I’ve got an idea for all of us. Why don’t we get our Pastors the book, “40 Days Toward a more Godly nation” as a Christmas gift. He’ll hear the truth about our Founding Fathers and just what the Lord expects of us.
