Numerous studies have shown that alcohol outlet density is significantly related to the level of alcohol harm that neighborhoods experience, particularly violence.

Oulet density also can influence how drinkers congregate, making them more aggressive or encouraging others to drink.

Examining 16 years’worth of data in Canada found that reducing off-premise density was significanly associated with a decease in alcohol consumption more than other social and economic factors

Suicide rates among boys between 15-19 years old have been shown to increase by up to 12 percent when alcohol outlets increase.

Areas with more alcohol outlets have been found to have higher rates of child abuse.

Higher alcohol outlet densities leads to disproportionately concentrated in low-income racial or ethnic minority communities.

Broken Covenants

The Body of Christ is engaged in praying and lifting up the Supreme Court to uphold the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman. What I see in America is a generation that is waiting until they are older to get married.  That in itself is not a concern, but the reason behind it might be. What is our generation modeling for our children and grandchildren in regard to a covenant relationship?  Has marriage been diluted because we are living in a culture of broken covenants?  We say we want to protect marriage.  We say, it’s been this way for thousands of years, and yet what are we modeling, and why is the next generation so afraid of hurt, pain and separation? As we pray for the legal protection of marriage between one man and one woman, let’s also pray that we, believers in Jesus Christ, will not break covenant in our marriages before the Lord.  Let us model love, forgiveness, humility, submission, honoring, respecting our spouses. Prayer changes things, Lord begin with us.

LET’S PRAY For The Supreme Court Justices

American Flag

Family Research Council and Call2Fall have an outstanding prayer guide on how to pray strategically for this issue.  This includes specific insights and prayer points for individual Supreme Court Justices based on how they have ruled in the past etc.  Some of the prayer points below are based on this guide.

 Heart Preparation: Repentance and Humility

·       As we begin our prayers over this issue, we humble ourselves before You, Lord. We acknowledge that Jesus Christ loves and died on the cross for all those who are caught in a homosexual lifestyle or who struggle with this temptation.

·       We acknowledge that we, the church, have not always reached out to these ones who need our acceptance, love, and help. For this we ask forgiveness, Lord.  We acknowledge the hurt and pain that many families have suffered in this regard, and ask that You, Lord, extend Your healing and grace to each broken family.

·       We further acknowledge that marriage between one man and one woman is Your original design … that this is the foundation of a healthy family and the very fabric of a stable society. It is from this position of humility and truth that we address this issue in prayer today.

 Supreme Court Justices

·       You are a Judicial God, deeply concerned with laws and our human legal system.  You are the Lawgiver, the Advocate, and the Judge of the earth; the very foundation of Your throne is righteousness and justice.

·       We therefore invite YOUR MANIFEST PRESENCE O Lord, to the chambers of the US Supreme Court, even now, that no demonic influence would be welcome or able to remain and that angels would stand watch over these men and women.

·       We fervently cry out to You for each Justice of the Court and for our Supreme Court as a whole! Remind them of the limits of their authority under the Constitution and restrain them from overstepping that boundary.  Help them to judge wisely and humbly.

·       Please would You pour out a spirit of wisdom and revelation to rest on each of them and that as the book of James tells us, the wisdom from above, not the wisdom from below, would prevail.  Thank you that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

Back: Sonia Sotomayor, Stephen G. Breyer, Samuel A. Alito, Elena Kagan.

Front: Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, Chief Justice John Roberts, Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg

·       May those Justices who fear You, prepare and rule in the fear of the Lord. “The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, He that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” (2 Sam 23:3)

·       May the literal fear of God fall upon those Justices who currently do not fear You.  “Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; take warning, O judges of the earth. Worship the LORD with reverence and rejoice with trembling.” (Ps 2:10 – 11)

·       May the fear of God be upon each member’s staff: their clerks, their assistants, their friends, their families and all who influence them.  Shield them from any ungodly influence or pressure to redefine marriage, now and over the next few months.

·       May they collectively sense the very power and presence of God hovering over them, warning them of The Lord’s righteousness and justice; warning them that they must give an account to the Supreme Judge of the WORLD for their actions.

·       May they receive powerful visions and dreams that shake them to their core – just like Abimelech, Pharaoh, Pilate’s wife, Belshazzar; Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, warning them of what will come to pass if they rule wrongly in this important case. May they be shown the consequences of their decision.

Attorneys for the same-sex couples: Mary L. Bonauto and Doug Hallward-Driemeier

·       “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” (Eph 6:12, NLT) Recognizing that this is first and foremost a spiritual battle, we take a stand against dark forces that would empower and advance any agenda that undermines biblical marriage and religious freedom in our nation.

·       We pray that You would open the eyes of these attorneys in a “Damascus road” encounter with You!  Like Paul, who was zealously persecuting the church and was completely transformed into a great apostle, we pray for a life-changing shift for these attorneys. Thank you that nothing is impossible with You, God!

·       As they encounter the truth, would You shake the very foundation of their legal arguments and make them even doubt what they are saying.  We pray that they will be conflicted in their spirits and in their thinking and unable to persuade themselves (inwardly) or the Justices.

Attorneys defending the state’s marriage laws: John J. Bursch and Joseph L. Whalen

·       We pray for the attorneys as they prepare what will certainly be the case of their lives.  May they be given unmistakable peace that passes all understanding in their preparation and when they stand to present their case on April 28 – perfect peace and calm, unfettered by any anxiety from within or without!

·       We ask for your angelic protection over them and we bind any confusion, discouragement, depression, or fear that the enemy would send against them. May they know God’s full protection giving them safety and preserving them from harm, accidents, assaults, extortion or threats (like we saw in Indiana), and every other danger.

·       Like Daniel and his friends, we pray that they would experience a supernatural strength and that You would give them wisdom and eloquence that far exceeds natural ability! “In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times betterthan all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.”  (Dan. 1:20)

·       May Your presence and the power of the Holy Spirit anoint them to speak with great conviction and clarity.  May their arguments be authoritative and convincing to the court, and to the nation — such as no man can refute. May their words be so weighty that they will ring in men’s ears even after court is concluded.

“The Supreme Court should resist the temptation to impose its moral values on marriage through raw judicial power, as it did with abortion through Roe v. Wade. The judicial branch is being asked to undertake a power grab unmoored from the Constitution, history, self-government, and judicial restraint. Simply put, under our republican form of government, the Supreme Court has no power to invalidate laws protecting traditional marriage under the United States Constitution.

– Judicial Watch

This is Roe v. Wade all over again. I am standing shoulder to shoulder with all who will stand up for God’s Word concerning marriage.

Dr. James Dobson (Founder, Family Talk Radio)

Outrageous penalties are now being assessed against people of faith and conviction who haven’t changed their position on marriage. Rather it’s the courts that have changed the definitions, the rules, and laws that now govern us. They are ruling against Nature’s Law and Nature’s God. Christians are being declared the lawbreakers when we are simply living by what we have always believed, and by a set of laws that the culture historically has agreed to.

Rick Scarborough (President, Vision America Action)

“The implications of the coming Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage could be the biggest blow in recent history to religious freedom in America.”

– Rick Joyner (Founder, MorningStar Ministries)

Once you elevate same-sex marriage to the level of protected status, whether on the federal or the state level, you begin to change and transform the face of society. In my view, it will result in the beginning of the end of Western Civilization.

 Mat Staver (Founder, Liberty Counsel)

Thank you for praying!  Our 9 Supreme Court Justices literally hold the fate of religious freedom for millions of Christians and Christian businesses and ministries in their hands.

1 Tim 2:2 instructs us to pray for all who are in authority if we are to live peaceful and godly lives.  Praying for leaders and those in positions of influence and power is one of the most strategic things we can do!

When Jesus Prayed

When we are traveling and away from home, I still go to weather.com to check on the weather.  When the storms of life come, I have another site I visit…it’s called the THRONE ROOM.  I’ve lived enough of life to know that He is always there, waiting, watching, longing for our time and attention.  It’s because He loves us and has so much He wants to teach us and give us.  Power…overcoming power is ours for the asking.

Today in our reading of scripture in Hebrews is talked about a time when Jesus was in the midst of a crisis.

It says, “In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers, and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.  Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.” Hebrews 5:7-8

The National Day of Prayer is May 7th and it is a time for us, united in Kansas to stand together and cry out to the Lord.  Teach us O Lord to obey.

Are You In Need of Rain?

The trees are budding, flowers are beginning to peek through the ground and the lilacs  smell amazing. New life, new birth, God’s creation is coming alive again.

How about His people?  Are we waking up, stretching, thanking Him for this beauty that He has provided?  Don’t take it for granted.  Without rain the beauty will fade, and without pruning, the new growth looks dead on the ends.  Where are we in Kansas Spiritually?  Are we in need of pruning? Are we in need of rain?

Thank the Lord our parched soil is being refreshed.  What about our parched souls?  Do you ever feel that you are in a dry and thirsty land?  The Lord says, “If you draw near to Me, I will draw near to you.”Comfort is found in the bosom of the Lord.  He longs for us to come to Him for comfort.  He wants to bring us beauty.  He wants what is best for us and is always about blessing us. All you who are weary and heavy laden, will find rest. Blessings to you all!

Repentance and Forgiveness In Wichita

On Sunday night, in the city of Wichita, a spiritually historic moment in time took place.  At the Reconciliation Service, pastors repented and asked forgiveness for all spiritual, mental, and emotional wounds caused by them.  They said, “please forgive us for not leading by example, being ‘men pleasers’ rather than pleasers of God, for not equipping you adequately to fulfill your call and for building our own kingdom. We seek your forgiveness for times we have fallen into immorality, greed, and pride.  Will you forgive and release us from these sins and from bondage they have placed us in?” Then a member of the congregation, representing all of us, asked forgiveness for times we withheld tithes and offerings, gossiped about pastors and their families, times we had not stood up for you, times we opposed your ideas without cause and for not praying for you as we should. Time will not allow me to convey the depth of what I witnessed on Sunday evening.  God’s grace fell and freedom reigns.

Reconciliation and Unity Service In Wichita

On Sunday, the state of Kansas watched as our two top basketball teams face off in the NCAA tournament.  Families might have been split, many in the state were split on who we wanted to win.  However, in the end, whoever won, would represent the great state of Kansas.  The disciples came to Jesus and said, “Lord, those other guys, they’re healing in your name!!!….Jesus said, “If they are not against us, they are on our side.” Now, we will unify around WSU….what about the church?  Are we ready for unity?  On Palm Sunday night in the city of Wichita, Pastors are coming together for a Reconciliation Service.  There will be repentance, Pastor to Pastor, Pastor to congregation, Congregation to Pastor.  The goal is unity.  Pray for Wichita, that we might be one spiritually and if this resonates with you, if you’ve had church splits, if there’s been gossip, hurt feelings, bitterness with other believers it’s time to put it under the blood.  Forgiveness is freeing.

March 29th – 6 p.m. Church At the Cross – 2901 W. Taft St Wichita, Ks.

“Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” Psalm 133:1

Wichita means “scattered huts or houses.” True spiritual unity flows from the presence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of our Lord’s people.  John 17:20,23 This city has had division and divisiveness in its roots throughout its history. Several churches that have been regularly meeting together for unity’s sake are going to have a “Reconciliation and Unity Service.”

Our city has been spiritually dysfunctional in many ways; church splits, church disablements, wounded pastors, wounded leaders and wounded sheep scattered and abandon, a divisive spirit, leviathan twisting and perverting the truth. Therefore the spiritual growth of our city has been stifled. We want to correct and heal this situation. We feel the Lord has called us to have a service to release healing and forgiveness and bring unity to Wichita. We want to obey and apply the Word of God to affect and Change the spiritual atmosphere of Wichita.

“He will forgive our sin as we forgive others— if you forgive men their trespasses your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if you do not forgive men their trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matt. 6:12,14,15

The service will include:

1. A pastor representing all pastors will repent to the sheep (congregation) for wounds caused by previous pastors or us and ask for forgiveness.

2.  A person representing the sheep will repent to the pastors and ask forgiveness for wounding and casting out pastors from their flocks.

3.  We will have pastor representing leaders asking forgiveness of other pastors and leaders for bad mouthing, a jealous spirit causing division, wanting authority that wasn’t theirs, thereby hurting the body of Christ.

4.  Sheep repent to sheep for spreading gossip, backbiting, and causing splits in the body of Christ. We will then ask love to flow from and to all churches that believe Jesus Christ is Lord and the only way to our Father in heaven.

5. We will pray for sheep that have been wounded and that are either hiding in large churches or not going to church at all to be healed, restored in fellowship, planted and bringing forth the fruit, gifts, purposes and plans of the Lord in their lives and in the body of Christ. We will worship, proclaim unity over our city and take communion together.

Please RSVP so we will know how many are coming.

(City Church 618.7700) If you can’t come will you please consider having your own repentance, forgiveness, reconciliation and unity service?

It’s time for all believers to hit their knees in prayer and pick up their cell phones and call the number of those on the education committee, led by Rep. Ron Highland. On Friday, that committee will decide the fate of Common Core in Kansas and the future of our children. Public Schools in Kansas don’t need to be put into a cookie press to turn out little worker bees.

We want good solid curriculum put together by Kansans.  Common Core is destructive in so many ways.

Have you checked out the way they want you to do math?

It’s time to pray, and call.  Activate your prayer lines, and ask the Lord to stop Kansas from Common Core.  HB 2292 is a good bill, and endorsed with its strong constitutionality by our own Secretary of State Kris Kobach.  You can call your local representative and tell them HB 2292 needs to pass to save Kansas children.

Our children are our most precious asset.
