A recent study from the National Center for Education Statistics ranked Community Colleges in the U.S. and it resulted in Kansas having 3 out of the top 10 community colleges.
Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas was applauded for their low student faculty ratio and low in-state tuition They also have 24 locations in 14 surrounding counties making it very convenient for students.
Nationwide, only about 20 percent of students graduate from two-year institutions within three years of enrolling.
However, at North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit, Kan., 81 percent of the students graduate. They also work in tandem with Fort Hays State University and provide transferable credits and have a student-faculty ratio is 10-1. Every year, students build a house from the foundation up. They learn carpentry, bricklaying, residential electricity, telecommunications, electronics engineering technology, and plumbing, heating and air conditioning.
Next in Emporia, Kan., Flint Hills Technical College have 94% of students finding a job after graduation. They partnered with K-State and recently built an office using state of the art technology including wind power and solar energy.
